About the Reviewer

Jeff Emanuel in the Alexander Reading Room at the Classics Department of the University of GeorgiaJeff Emanuel studied Classics at the University of Georgia, and is a graduate student of Anthropology and Archaeology at Harvard University.

A regular participant in nautical and terrestrial archaeological fieldwork, Jeff’s archaeological research interests include maritime trade, communication, and warfare in the Late Bronze Age Mediterranean; the transition from the Late Bronze to the Iron Age in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, including the advent of the Philistines and other ‘Sea Peoples’; seafaring and naval warfare in the Classical period; and the biblical world at the time portrayed in the Hebrew Bible’s deuteronomistic history.

As a Special Operations military veteran, Jeff’s research and writing interests also include national and international security; historical, modern, and future special operations; and counterterrorism.
